A Deeper Look
Harry Styles
Originally a member of the British boy-band One Direction, Harry Styles endured his taste of solo success after the release of his first album in 2016. Along with his solo success, he has been breaking away from the boy band life and finding his own, true style. Styles has constantly experimented with new music styles and fashion. Following the release of his second solo album, Styles appeared on the cover of Vogue magazine in their December 2020 issue. This stirred up some controversy because he was pictured wearing a baby blue dress, and he was not letting any criticism get to him.
This recent experimentation with style has come to Styles because of a David Bowie quote, Styles recounted the exact quote, "I'd seen this clip of David Bowie talking saying that you usually end up doing your best work when you feel like you can't quite touch the bottom, and realizing that the fact that it made me feel a little uncomfortable didn't mean it was a bad song was a big thing." Bowie’s wise words made Styles realize that it is okay to make himself and people uncomfortable with his music.
